Velocity Titles After Effects Template Project

It’s been a LONG time since I posted any work-in-progress shots from a project, so here goes! I’ve been working on a new template for VideoHive that incorporates slow, detailed close-ups of fast cars with silvery 3D text. It’s an idea that’s been in my head for a long time, and it’s turning out to be a blast to work on. Who doesn’t love a Skyline GT-R? No one!     Here’s a view into one of the scenes; a rack-focus camera dolly moving along the length of a Ferrari engine…         More to... read more
News broadcast motion graphics package

News broadcast motion graphics package

Recently I created this basic motion graphics package for a local news station. It mostly uses Element 3D v2.2, along with some Optical Flares. The whole project’s colors can be controlled with one master control, and all the text is easily changed for anything you want it to say. The whole project is available for download on VideoHive.net View a sample here: https://vimeo.com/139888501         ... read more
JumboTron: Are You Ready?

JumboTron: Are You Ready?

I had a few days off recently, so I decided to tackle a modeling/animation project that’s been in my head for a few months. I’ve always loved looking at these huge JumboTrons that hang down from the ceiling in the center of sports arenas. These fascinate me. They’re really complex, insect-like, and provide spectators in-the-round with live information about the game. Basically, these JumboTrons are like cylindrical stage shows, boasting absolutely huge screens, moving lighting arrays and enormous speakers. I think most people don’t even realize how involved these things are, not to mention the team of talented people it takes to run them!  Anyway, I thought it would be fun to build the basic parts of a JumboTron and a stadium and see if I could bring them to life.... read more
Electric SciFi Scene

Electric SciFi Scene

With the recent release of Element 3D V2.2 from VideoCopilot.net, I’ve been busy trying to absorb and learn all the new features. My colleagues and I were really hoping for better light control and volumetric light, but we didn’t get it. Oh well, maybe we will in V3.0. In the meantime, I’m definitely enjoying the Group Symmetry functions and Matte Alpha the most. These 2 functions alone have given me much greater freedom to construct many objects quickly, and apply custom diffuse maps with alpha channels. The results speak for themselves when I’m trying to make lightning or streaks of “electricity” or “plasma”. The scene I’ve started to make here is a text or logo revel within a sci-fi setting. The camera can come down the hallway through z-space and will eventually settle on a giant machine that will “electrify” a central space to reveal the text or logo. I’ll post those images very soon….      ... read more
Milk Chocolate – Typography with Cinema4D

Milk Chocolate – Typography with Cinema4D

We’ve all seen countless candy and chocolate commercials on TV, and what a lot of people don’t know is that a lot of the food (chocolate, yogurt, milk, chips etc.) you see in these ads is created with software. After Effects is great for generating a flat surface (see below), and maya and Cinema4D are great for making dimensional liquid that actually interacts with other items in 3D space. Sometimes they also use a program called RealFlow to simulate liquids.   Anyway, I thought I’d give it a try. Here I created a simple golden-brown scene with the letters “Milk Chocolate” emerging from the pool.  ... read more
